Schools that achieve extraordinary success

Vic Zbar, Ross Kimber & Graham Marshall, Schools that achieve extraordinary success: How some disadvantaged Victorian schools 'punch above their weight', Occasional Paper, No. 109, CSE, February 2009.

The paper outlines and reflects on the authors' findings from a study they undertook on behalf of the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in 2008 on eight high performing, disadvantaged schools. The study was able to identify four preconditions that have to be in place for whole-school improvement to take hold and then be sustained over time.
